For now we would advise you to stay away from the windows 10 2018 October update.
The October update was released by Microsoft earlier this week, but some users are complaining serious issues. According to some users, during the upgrading to the October 2018 Update, their files, photos, or even entire user profiles wiped out.
One user complaining said: “I have just updated my windows using the October update (10, version 1809) it deleted all my files of 23 years in amount of 220gb. This is unbelievable, I have been using Microsoft products since 1995 and nothing like that ever happened to me.”
Microsoft is currently investigating the reports. Microsoft has not started automatically pushing this latest update out to Windows Update, so only people that visit Windows Update manually and check for updates will get it installed right now.
However that does not change the fact that people are complaining. Hence, we’d recommend not installing the Windows 10 October 2018 Update right now. If you do want to take the risk, make sure you’ve got all your documents and data backed up just in case you’re affected by this particular bug.
We’ll update you once it’s safe to upgrade to the latest October windows 10 version.
