Having discussed in our Previous article the primary cause of the deadly mesothelioma disease.
In this new article we are going to discuss in details what mesothelioma disease actually is, it’s early signs and symptoms as well.
Mesothelioma is an uncommon type of cancer that attacks the cells of the mesothelium, a thin membrane that lines the thoracic and abdominal cavities as well as the heart sac.
Exposure to asbestos is the primary identified cause of mesothelioma disease. This disease is one of the most aggressive forms of cancer and there is no known mesothelioma cure. Unfortunately, most patients die within just a few years of a mesothelioma diagnosis.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Mesothelioma tumors begin as tiny nodules on the lining of the lungs or abdomen. The cancer doesn’t cause symptoms until the tumors have grown and spread.
It is hard to identify mesothelioma symptoms early in the cancer’s development because the disease doesn’t produce early symptoms to identify.
However, When signs of the cancer start to arise, the most common mesothelioma symptoms include:
• Dry cough or wheezing
• Shortness of breath (dyspnea)
• Respiratory complications
• Pain in the chest or abdomen
• Fever or night sweats
• Pleural effusion (fluid around the lungs)
• Muscle weakness
Most early mesothelioma diagnoses happen by accident through routine X-rays or blood tests. By the time someone identifies warning signs, the cancer often has spread, making it difficult for doctors to treat.
Moreover, this disease have different symptoms at its various stages. This we are going to discuss in our next article. Feel free to subscribe to our newsletter.
